About Professor Steven Vaughan
Steven Vaughan is Professor of Law and Professional Ethics in the Faculty of Law at University College London (UCL).
Committed to values-led good governance, he has held a number of senior leadership roles in the Faculty: as Deputy Dean, Head of Department and Vice Dean (Staffing), and Vice Dean (Strategy). He was previously co-Director (with Professor Maria Lee) of the Centre for Law and the Environment and co-Director (with Dr Simon Lock) of qUCL (UCL's queer research network). Steven also created and co-led OutLaws, the Faculty of Laws Staff-Student LGBT+ Network. As a gay man from a working-class background whose research includes diversity in the legal profession, Steven has personal and professional interests in issues of equity and inclusion.
Steven has written extensively in two fields - environmental law, and lawyers’ ethics – and is the author and editor of two monographs, two edited collections, two journal special issues, and over three dozen chapters, journal papers, and reports since 2007.
