Support LMH

By supporting LMH, you are transforming the future of our students – extraordinary young people who will go on to shape and inspire the world.

Our supporters are funding access initiatives, providing financial support to those who need it, resourcing LMH’s wellbeing programme, investing in world-class teaching and research and maintaining our beautiful estate.

Every gift makes a difference, no matter the size.

Make a Regular Gift

Give As You Earn (GAYE)

Payroll giving is a way of making a donation direct from your salary before income tax is calculated and deducted, while LMH receives the tax that you would have paid. This means that every £1 you wish to donate could cost you as little as 55 – 80p. Your HR department should be able to help set this up.

In addition, some companies offer matched giving schemes through which they can double or even triple charitable donations from their employees.  Please check with your HR department to see if your company participates in a matched giving scheme.

Shares and assets

Gifts of shares, securities or other assets are a tax-efficient way of benefiting the College. These gifts can be transferred free of Capital Gains Tax.

If you make a gift of shares to the College, you can also claim tax relief equal to the market value of the shares on the day you make the gift, together with any associated costs such as brokers' fees. The relief is against your income tax for the year. For example, if you give LMH £1,000 worth of shares and you are a higher rate taxpayer, you will pay £400 less in income tax that year.

The relief is available for shares and securities listed on the UK Stock Market, the Alternative Investment Market, and recognised stock exchanges overseas. It is also available for units in a UK unit trust, shares in a UK open-ended investment company (OEIC), and some similar foreign investments.

If your shares have gone down in value, you should be aware that you will not be able to use this loss to offset any other CGT liability you may have.

Please contact the Development Office for more information.

Tax-efficient giving

If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid is one of the easiest ways to make your donation tax effective. As the College is a registered charity (number 1142759), we can reclaim an additional 25% on all gifts you make, provided that you have paid an amount of UK income tax or capital gains tax equal to the amount reclaimed. This means that for every £1 you give, we receive £1.25.

If you are a higher-rate tax payer, you can reclaim the difference between this and the tax you’ve paid on the donation in your annual tax return. This means that a £100 donation to LMH could cost you as little as £69 and be worth £125 to the College.

Please remember to select the Gift Aid option when you donate or contact the Development Office if you wish to take advantage of this scheme.

Giving From Abroad

Overseas donors form a core part of LMH’s support base. As our alumni body becomes increasingly international, so too does our donor family. We are enormously grateful for the support we receive from our overseas supporters and we try to make it as easy as possible for you to donate.
