International Women's Day Celebration

Members of all of Oxford's former women's colleges are welcome to this special evensong in celebration of International Women's Day.

Texts will include Ruth 1:1-18 and the poem ‘Caged Bird’ by Maya Angelou. There will also be a piece by a local poet, Joseph M. Butler.

Music will include:

  • Psalm 27 vv. 1-7, chant by Margaret Burk
  • Canticles: the Song of Mary and the Song of Simeon by Margaret Rizza
  • Anthem: Let all the world in every corner sing by Greta Tomlins
  • Hymn: The March of the Women by Ethel Smyth

Our preacher for this occasion is the Revd Emily Hockliffe-Essex, Assistant Curate at Holy Trinity, Headington Quarry, who is a feminist trauma theologian.
