Celebration of Dr Margery Ord's Life and Contribution to LMH
We are delighted to invite you to join us on Saturday 19th October, 2:30 – 5pm, for a celebration of the life of Dr Margery Ord, Tutor and Fellow in Biochemistry (1952-1988).
Joined by fellow alumni, colleagues and friends, we will mark the publication of Margery’s memoir, Pathways: Reflections of a Female Scientist which has been edited and published by alumna Nicky Bull (1972, Biochemistry).
We will also recognise the impact of Margery’s significant legacy upon Biochemistry at LMH. Nicky will be speaking alongside Margery’s former colleagues and friends: Dame Frances Lannon, Honorary Fellow & Former Principal, Modern History (1969); Dr Garry Brown, Emeritus Fellow in Biochemistry and Medical Geneticist; and Reverend Dr Allan Doig, Emeritus Fellow, Former Chaplain and Tutor for Graduates. Dr Phil Biggin, the Margery Ord Fellow in Biochemistry will also provide an update on Biochemistry at the College today.
The programme will conclude with afternoon tea and fizz and copies of Margery’s memoir will be available to purchase.
Entrance to this event is free of charge and you are welcome to bring a guest.
Booking will close on Thursday 3rd October.
If you are not able to attend in person, we are offering a hybrid version of the afternoon talks. If you would like to join online, please email us at development@lmh.ox.ac.uk.
