Alicia E. Stallings (MSt Literae Humaniores, 1991) is one of four finalists shortlisted for the Runciman prize. The awards recognises books about Greece on behalf of the Anglo-Hellenic League, which was founded in the aftermath of the 1912-13 Balkan Wars.
Stallings' book Like was also recently named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry.
'I'm delighted to be in such excellent company,' said Alicia. 'I'm also delighted that the Runciman Award commendation affirms that Hesiod is a poet not just for archaic Greece, but a poet for our times, who addresses themes of work and justice in an Iron Age.'
