Role: Fellow and Tutor; Associate Professor of Ancient History

Prof Christina Kuhn

Biography

I am a Tutorial Fellow and Associate Professor in Ancient History. Before joining LMH, I was a Lecturer at the University of Heidelberg and a Research Associate at the Oxford Classics Faculty. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research interests

My research interests centre on the political, social and cultural history of the Roman Empire and the provincial administration and civic life of Roman Asia Minor. I am particularly interested in Latin and Greek epigraphy, Roman imperial historiography (Tacitus, Cassius Dio) and the authors of the Second Sophistic (esp. Dio Chrysostom, Aelius Aristides). My current projects deal with various aspects of political communication in the Graeco-Roman world. I have edited Politische Kommunikation und öffentliche Meinung in der antiken Welt (2012) and co-edited Applied Classics: Comparisons, Constructs, Controversies (2009). I am assistant editor of the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum.
