LMH Fellows Vanessa Ferreira and Robin Harding have been awarded the title of full professor in the University of Oxford’s 2023 Recognition of Distinction Awards.

The awards recognise excellence in three core areas: teaching; research; and involvement in University or college administration or wider forms of public engagement.

Professor Ferreira is Tutorial Fellow in Medicine at LMH and British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine.

Professor Ferreira’s research focuses on the study of heart disease using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). She aims to advance non-invasive CMR methods to gain more insight into heart disease. She is also seeking to minimise the need for injection of contrast agents for diagnostic images, which would allow more patients to benefit from cardiac MRI, eliminate adverse reactions to contrast agents and reduce time and cost.

Professor Harding is the Gillian Peele Fellow in Politics at LMH and Professor of Politics in the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR).

The primary focus of Professor Harding’s research is the relationship between political institutions and public policy outcomes, in areas such as education, healthcare, and the environment. He also has a broad interest in questions related to electoral accountability, and in particular how it is affected by policy attribution.
