Professor Xiaowen Dong has joined LMH as Associate Professor Tutorial Fellow in Engineering. The APTF post is in association with a University Lecturer in the Engineering Department.
Xiaowen Dong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Science, where he is an academic member of both the Machine Learning Research Group and the Oxford-Man Institute.
Prior to joining Oxford, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in the MIT Media Lab, where he remains as a research affiliate, and received his PhD degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland.
Xiaowen is primarily interested in utilising graphs to model relational structure within the data, and developing novel techniques that lie at the intersection of machine learning, signal processing and complex networks. He applies these techniques to study questions across social and economic sciences, with a particular focus on understanding human behaviour, decision making and societal changes.
Fellow and Tutor in Engineering Prof. Nick Hankins warmly welcomes Prof. Dong to support and develop the Engineering school at LMH.
