An Evening of Music and Conversation for Young Alumni

We were delighted to host LMH alumni who matriculated in 2005 and later to an exclusive event at the stunning Shoreditch Treehouse on Tuesday 26th November.

A group of young people sit in a wood-panelled room filled with fairy lights and greenery listening to a live band

Guests at the event were treated to a performance from up-and-coming band Mount St. Helen, founded by Aris Sabetai (2021, Music), who was joined by band mates Francesco Reni (2019, BA Classics and Oriental Studies) and Ryan Taylor-Costin. Established during lockdown, their music blends a love of 90s guitar music with ethereal string arrangements and pop sensibilities, with much of their music recorded during Aris’s time at LMH.

Between songs, College Lecturer in Music, Dr Jonathan Packham, led an engaging discussion with the band. He explored their musical influences, the creative process behind their distinctive style, and the stories embedded in their lyrics. Guests enjoyed learning more about the band’s journey from its inception to where it stands today.

The Shoreditch Treehouse, with its cosy ambiance, proved to be the perfect venue for such a special gathering. We would like to thank Ross Elder (1992, Physics) and the team at the Shoreditch Treehouse for hosting us so generously.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this memorable evening. Events like these not only celebrate the talent and achievements of our alumni but also strengthen the bonds within the LMH community. We look forward to seeing you at future events!
