Wolfson West construction, 1964, LMH Oxford

With the finishing touches to the new Graduate Centre and Lodge well underway, a look back 52 years to construction taking place in what was to become the Wolfson Quod in October 1964, named after the Wolfson Foundation which provided financial assistance. Originally, the road (Norham Gardens) continued straight to the steps of the Talbot Building before swinging left and continuing past the Deneke Building and the Chapel. In this picture all traces of the road have disappeared and the Library to the left, opened by The Queen in November 1960, awaits the construction of Wolfson West. [LMH Archives, Album 4]
