On-course transcripts
If you are a taught undergraduate or taught graduate student, you can request your on-course transcript from the My Exams area of Student Self Service. You will receive an email inviting you to register on the eDocuments service if you have not already done so.
If you have not yet registered for eDocuments, you will need:
- a personal (non-university) email address
- your student number (found in Student Self Service)
You will need to pay a one-off access fee that gives you unlimited access to all your official electronic documents.
If you are graduate research student, please use your enrolment certificate to confirm your course status instead.
Final Transcripts
Once you have completed your course, your final transcript will normally appear on the University's eDocuments service within 24 hours of receipt of your results. You will receive an email from the eDocuments service when it is ready to view.
If you have not yet registered for eDocuments, you will need:
- a personal (non-university) email address
- your student number (found in Student Self Service)
You will need to pay a one-off access fee that gives you unlimited access to all your official electronic documents.
Alongside your transcript, you’ll also receive your Degree Confirmation Letter and Diploma Supplement through the same service.
Certificates
Degree certificates are collected from College on the day of your graduation. If you are graduating in absentia your certificate will be posted to you.
Please make sure that your home address in Student Self Service is up to date before your ceremony. If you haven’t received your degree certificate within three months of the date of your ceremony and you fail to notify your college of this within that period, you will be charged for a replacement certificate.
If you have questions about this, please contact graduation@lmh.ox.ac.uk for further information.
You will also be able to access an eCertificate via the University’s eDocuments service (this is available once your degree has been conferred, unless you are on a course which does not require you to attend a ceremony).
Digital Degree Confirmation Letter (dDCL)
If you have passed your exams but your degree hasn’t yet been conferred, or if you have attended a ceremony but have not yet received your certificate, you may be eligible for a digital Degree Confirmation Letter (dDCL).
This official letter confirms:
- That you’ve successfully completed your course
- Your dates of attendance
- Your final classification
You can use the dDCL to prove your award to employers or institutions before your certificate is available. (Note: a dDCL cannot be issued until you have completed your course.)
Sharing your documents
The University's eDocuments Service allows you to securely share your documents online with third parties, such as employers, universities, or other organisations. Documents shared through the University’s eDocuments Service are considered official secure documents for application purposes.
Third party verification requests
Employers, prospective employers, other educational institutions, funding bodies or recognised voluntary organisations may request information on a student's current and completed educational attainments. The University can answer these questions, with the student's permission, which should be acquired prior to making any verification request.
The College cannot complete third party verification requests.
Further information about third party verification requests can be found on the University’s Degree Conferrals Office webpage.

Replacement certificates
You can order replacement degree certificates via the University’s online shop.
A few things to note before you order:
- If your degree ceremony took place in the last three months, please don’t place an order yet. Instead, email degree.ceremonies@admin.ox.ac.uk for advice.
- If you completed your course before February 2010 and never received a degree certificate, please contact documents@admin.ox.ac.uk so that they can check your record first.
- If you have not yet had a degree ceremony, a certificate cannot be issued.
- If you had a degree ceremony before 2010 but weren’t issued with a certificate, you will now need to order a replacement certificate, as free certificates are no longer available.

Name changes
The name on your degree certificate and degree confirmation letter will be the one you held when you completed your degree (granted 'leave to supplicate').
Name changes can only be made if:
- There was an administrative error, or
- The University is required to make a retrospective change under the provisions of the Gender Recognition Act 2004.
If you’ve changed your name since completing your degree (e.g. through marriage, or by Deed Poll), and need to demonstrate to a prospective employer or education institution that your degree certificate or confirmation letter belongs to you, supporting documentation showing the name change should accompany the certificate.
