Join us for an 'In Conversation' between LMH Principal Professor Christine Gerrard and alumna Dr Varaidzo (Vee) Kativhu (2017, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History). 

The conversation will touch on Vee's time at LMH, her educational charity Empowered by Vee, her international advocacy work and her further study at Harvard and then Claremont Graduate University, where she recently completed her PhD, entitled: 'Beyond Access: Black Women Alumnae’s Perspectives on Navigating Russell Group Universities as Undergraduates in the United Kingdom'.

About Dr Vee Kativhu

Dr Vee Kativhu is a British-Zimbabwean Girls Education Advocate, Storyteller, and Consultant working at the intersection of girls' education, youth empowerment, and policy change. In addition to the undergraduate degree she gained at LMH, Vee also holds an Ed.M from Harvard University and a PhD in Education from Claremont Graduate University.

Vee is the founder of Empowered By Vee, an education and empowerment charity supporting girls' education and leadership in Zimbabwe and the UK. She is also the author of Empowered, published by Penguin Random House. Her advocacy work has been recognised through inclusion in the BBC 100 Inspiring Women and Forbes 30 Under 30 lists, as well as British Vogue’s Force for Change. In 2024, at the age of 25, Vee received an honorary doctorate from the University of Bradford,making her the youngest recipient in the university's history.

Vee has consulted for organisations including UNESCO, UNICEF, the Global Partnership for Education, and United World Schools, and speaks internationally on youth engagement, policy, and access to school. Through her platform of over 560,000 followers and her global speaking work, Vee continues to push for systemic change that puts girls back in school, empowers young people to raise their voices, and secures a seat at every table where decisions are made.
