In his third year at LMH, Music student Christopher Churcher will release his debut album Moonrise on 8 May, a rare achievement for an undergraduate composer.

Speaking about the album, Christopher said: "It feels quite a rare opportunity as a young composer to have a full album professionally recorded and released in this way, and it’s a huge privilege.

Moonrise brings together music written during my time as an undergraduate at Oxford, mostly comprising works composed specifically for the choir."

The album centres on Christopher's 'Pride Motets,'  commissioned for Somerville College’s LGBTQ+ Pride services. These works explore themes of LGBTQ+ identity and belonging, drawing on Christopher's personal experience as a queer composer.

This release follows a series of early achievements for the 22-year-old composer, recipient of the NCEM Young Composers Award (2023) and winner of the Bach Choir Carol Competition (2022).

Moonrise will be released physically and digitally on 8 May 2026 on Resonus Classics, with a launch event at Somerville College, Oxford on 10 May.

An album trailer has been released ahead of launch, and the album is available to be pre-ordered online. The first single, Everything is Going to be All Right, is also streaming now.
