Year 12 students from state schools and colleges across the UK are invited to join us for our History Taster Day on Tuesday 17th June.
Our History Taster Day gives students the chance to explore new ways of engaging with history. Students will take part in a number of academic sessions, including a taster lecture from an LMH History tutor and a source analysis workshop. The day will include an introduction to the History application process for Oxford, and a chance to ask any questions of LMH tutors and current undergraduate students in History.
The day will end with a visit to Oxford’s Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museums, including a tour of buildings and exhibits focusing on their historical context. This portion of the day is recommended, and free of charge, but any attendees who may need to travel long distances are welcome to leave at 3pm if needed.
All attendees will also receive a free lunch in the college hall, and a tour of the college with a current undergraduate.
We welcome any Year 12 student with an interest in History and a strong academic record. No specific history knowledge is required to participate, but a willingness and enthusiasm for exploring periods of History will help students to engage fully with the day’s activities.
