Professor Christina Kuhn, Tutorial Fellow and Associate Professor in Ancient History, has published a new edited volume on The Julio-Claudian Principate: Tradition and Transition. This work focuses on one of the most fascinating periods of political change in Rome’s history, exploring how Roman emperors from Augustus to Nero shaped a new vision of imperial rule that would influence the empire for centuries.

The book assembles ten fresh studies from scholars across various disciplines. Contributors include Andrew Burnett, Eleanor Cowan, John Drinkwater, Werner Eck, Martin Goodman, Annika Kuhn, Christopher Mallan, Josiah Osgood, Clare Rowan, and Peter Wiseman. They discuss a wide range of themes and offer new insights into the establishment and consolidation of the principate under the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
