Investors in People is an international standard for people management, recognising organisations that are leading the way in making work better for their employees and which provide exceptional leadership and support to enable staff to thrive. Only around 7% of organisations assessed by IIP achieve Platinum accreditation, which recognises workplaces where support for staff development, wellbeing and collaboration are firmly embedded at all levels of the organisation.
The College has been recognised as an IIP employer for the past 15 years, previously holding Gold accreditation. Following a recent reaccreditation process, LMH has achieved Platinum status and is now ranked 5th out of 32 IIP employers in the Higher Education sector.
Platinum accreditation reflects a workplace culture where staff feel supported, valued, and empowered to contribute to the success of the College. The recent assessment highlighted particularly strong results in collaborative working, living organisational values, empowering people, and supporting continuous improvement. Support Staff across the College shared their views through surveys and interviews with external assessors, helping to shape a detailed understanding of LMH’s working environment and culture.
Commenting on the award, LMH Principal Professor Christine Gerrard said: “Recognition from Investors in People is a wonderful affirmation of the culture we have built together here at Lady Margaret Hall. Our Support Staff are central to everything we do, and this achievement reflects the dedication and collaboration that colleagues bring to the College every day. Everyone has played a part in making this possible. We are very proud to be an IIP Platinum employer, and we remain committed to building on this milestone and continuing to make LMH an even better place to work in the future.”
Tina Beard, Head of HR, added: “We are delighted to have achieved Platinum accreditation, but for us it’s less about the badge and more about the culture behind it. Our latest staff survey saw an 88% response rate, with 96% of colleagues agreeing that the College is a great place to work. That tells us that we’re creating the right culture – one focussed on listening, developing and supporting our colleagues.”
We are proud of all our Support Staff for making LMH a place where people can thrive and contribute to the College community every day.
