Biography

Stephen is a Stipendiary Lecturer in Engineering Science at Lady Margaret Hall. Stephen studied Bioengineering at the University of Ulster and then did a PhD in Biomedical Materials at Queen Mary, University of London. After a stint as a post-doc at the Biomechanics & Biomaterials Laboratory at Lund University, Sweden,  Stephen joined the Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Centre (OOEC) at the University of Oxford.

Research interests

Stephen is a Senior Researcher in Orthopaedic Biomechanics. At OOEC Stephen carries out research on factors affecting outcome in joint replacement. Stephen also holds an interest in motion analysis and is developing methods for combining ultrasound imaging with motion capture.

Teaching

Stephen tutors 1st & 2nd year students on Materials, Structures and Dynamics and 3rd year students on Engineering in Society. He is also a Non-Stipendiary Lecturer at St. Edmund Hall and a facilitator on the Preparing for Learning and Teaching at Oxford course run by the Medical Sciences Division.
