Subject Tutors, not surprisingly, care about the subject in which they are experts. They also care about the intellectual and personal development of their students.
Throughout the admissions process Tutors are looking for students who have already excelled academically, and who can demonstrate high-level analytical skills and strong aptitude and potential for further specialist work in their chosen subject.
Tutors are also looking for students with voracious intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm, love of their subject, and the discipline and energy to succeed.
If students are to get the most out of the exceptional opportunity of the Oxford tutorial system, they need to be able to work independently and communicate clearly both on paper and in discussion. Tutors are looking for students who can present and defend their ideas well but also be open to new insights.

All admissions interviews take place online, and you can find out more information about them on the University website.
You will receive notification of whether you have been shortlisted for interview at least one week before your online interview. The timetable for online interviews is revised annually, and is available on the University website. It is important to keep the dates of your potential interviews free. Applicants who require them may request reasonable adjustments; details on how to do so will be provided following the application deadline.
Although you apply for a particular college (or if your application is open you will be assigned to a particular college), you may also be interviewed by other colleges. The colleges work together to identify the best candidates across the University for each subject.
Potential students are normally given at least two interviews each of approximately 20-30 minutes with LMH, though the number and length of interviews can vary. Each is usually with a small group of tutors. Most people get rather nervous about interviews, and we try to put you at ease. Interviews are not cross-examinations, but a way to investigate ability and potential.
Some subjects require tests to be taken by applicants. You should determine whether this is true of your subject early on in the application process, as timely registration is essential.
For details of which subjects set tests, dates of those tests and specimen papers, please see the central admissions website.
In some subjects you are asked to send in some written work. To find out more you will need to consult the 'How to Apply' section in the central University website for your chosen course.
You should send us some marked work you have done at school, with a cover sheet completed by the school. Instructions on how to submit these materials will be provided to applicants who meet the application deadline. Further guidance on written work can be found here.
LMH is a welcoming place for international students. There is no stereotype at LMH when it comes to race or nationality.
The college provides a brilliant support system, from helping you set up an English bank account to having an International Representative on our student body committees, always ready to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand.
The application process is the same for all applicants - there is no quota or limit for international students.
Overseas students need to apply through UCAS, and will complete the same tests and submit the same written work in line with the standard subject requirements. Please note that early registration may be required for some written tests, so it is important to check the details for your subject on the University undergraduate admissions website.
