Transcripts – Current Students

If you are a current student you will automatically receive a copy of your final transcript upon completing your degree. This will be sent to your ‘home address’ listed in your Student Self-Service account - please ensure these details are kept up to date! If you need a transcript for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, please contact the Medical Sciences Office at enquiries@medsci.ox.ac.uk.

Postgraduate research students are not issued with a transcript but can be provided with a Degree Confirmation Letter as proof of award. If you are yet to complete your research degree, please contact your department for proof of study.

Certificates are sent out after degree ceremonies take place. For all ceremonies, if you have not received your degree certificate within three months of the date of your ceremony and you fail to notify your college of this within that period, you will be charged for a replacement certificate. It is your responsibility to check that your home address is correctly recorded before your ceremony takes place.

Transcripts - Alumni

Former Visiting Students should request a transcript by completing a visiting student transcript request form; the procedure below is not applicable.

If you commenced your studies in Michaelmas Term 2007 or after, you can order an official academic transcript through the University’s online shop.

If you graduated prior to February 2010 and did not receive your degree certificate following the ceremony, please email documents@admin.ox.ac.ukIf you have not had a degree ceremony then a certificate cannot be issued.

If you matriculated prior to Michaelmas Term 2007, you can order an official academic transcript from the College Academic Office. Please order your transcript in good time, as we require up to three weeks to process transcript requests.

Digital degree confirmation letters

As an alternative to certificates, you may be eligible for a digital Degree Confirmation Letter (dDCL). If you have passed your examinations and have not had your degree conferred at a degree ceremony, or if you have attended a ceremony but require proof of your award to present to a third party, you can have a digital degree confirmation letter. The letter will confirm that you have successfully completed your course at the University of Oxford, the dates of attendance and the classification you received. If you have not yet completed your course a letter cannot be issued.

The University’s eDocuments Service enables you to share the dDCL with others such as future employers online. Once your letter is ready it will be hosted on the University’s eDocuments service. You can then choose to share these documents with third parties from within the e-document portal itself. Documents shared in this way are sent from the University of Oxford and therefore are considered official secure documents for application purposes.

Name changes

The name which you held when you completed your degree (granted 'leave to supplicate') will be the name on your degree certificate and degree confirmation letter. The only retrospective changes that can be made are where an administrative error has occurred or where the University is required to make a retrospective change under the provisions of the Gender Recognition Act 2004.

If you have changed your name following completion of your course of study, (for example, through marriage, or by Deed Poll), and wish to demonstrate to a prospective employer or education institution that your degree certificate or confirmation letter belongs to you, supporting documentation showing the name change should accompany the certificate. Urgent Transcripts - to be sent abroad

If you urgently need to have your transcript sent abroad, Transglobal Express is LMH’s preferred courier, with the current rates available on the company's website. Alternatively, the Royal Mail offers international Air Mail and a variety of more reliable expedited and signed-for services. Charges for international postage, for courier service, or for Royal Mail special services will need to be paid up front, and we will be in touch with you at the point of shipping to communicate the details of how much this will cost and how to make payment.

We recommend that you provide your payment details (for delivery abroad, tracked, or expedited delivery options), separately over the phone in order to guarantee its security.

Please note that LMH will only accept applications for transcripts directly from our students and alumni and not from third parties for reasons of security and data protection. For third party verification requests, please see the Oxford University Degree Conferrals Office webpage for further information.

Ordering extra copies of final transcripts

You can order additional copies of your final transcript at a cost of £12 each. You can order and buy online by credit/debit card at the University Online Shop, or by post with payment by cheque by downloading the Postal Order Form from the University website. Applications for transcripts must be made by the student/former student themselves, as the Examination Schools will not accept requests from third parties. For third party verification requests, please see the Oxford University Degree Conferrals Office webpage for further information.

If you are expecting examination results, please wait until you receive your results in Student Self Service before requesting extra copies of a final transcript. Requests placed before your results are released may not include your final results.

If you have passed your examinations and have not had your degree conferred at a degree ceremony, or if you have attended a ceremony but require proof of your award to present to a third party, you can request a Degree Confirmation Letter free of charge from the Examination Schools. Documentation required for Tier 1 Post Study Work visa applications

If you have had your degree conferred at a degree ceremony either in person or in absentia you will need to submit both your Degree Certificate and a Degree Confirmation Letter. If you have not had your award conferred at a degree ceremony you may submit a Degree Confirmation Letter.

The Examination Schools can issue a Degree Confirmation Letter which will state that a Degree Certificate will be issued after the degree has been conferred.

Please note that these are only applicable for Tier 1 Post Study Work visa applications, they are not appropriate for any other visa application.

It is your responsibility to ensure you meet UK Border Agency requirements for your visa application. For further information regarding the application for Tier 1 Post Study Work visa or any other type of visa, please contact the Student Immigration Service.
