LMH alumna and Honorary Fellow Professor Dame Marina Warner (1964, Modern Languages) joined LMH Principal Professor Stephen Blyth for an ‘In Conversation’ event on 23 January.

Marina writes fiction, criticism and history. Her award-winning books explore myths, symbols and fairy tales, and cultural politics. She is Professor of English and Creative Writing at Birkbeck College, a Distinguished Fellow of All Souls College, and a Fellow of the British Academy.

In their wide-ranging conversation, Marina spoke about her experience of studying at LMH at a time when female students could only be admitted to Oxford’s women’s colleges. Discussion ranged from Marina’s early days as a journalist to her long and successful career as a freelance writer and independent scholar, touching on her interest in the history and meaning of myths and Fairy Tales.
