The Housekeeping Service

Our team of Housekeeping staff are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the College. Each Linen Keeper is responsible for guaranteeing the buildings have enough linen and conference items to prepare the guest bedrooms and that the dirty linen is prepared for collection. They are observant, thorough, have good time management and are able to multitask. The Housekeeping team has four supervisors who each have a team of seven/eight scouts that are responsible for cleaning rooms and communal areas. The Linen Keeper will organise the dirty and clean linen and deliver conference item to all areas of College as instructed by the supervisors.  

 

Job Description

Job Title: Linen Keeper

Main Purpose of Job: Organise and deliver linen and conference items

Responsible to: Housekeeping Manager

Liaison withScouts and Housekeeping Supervisors, Maintenance Team

 

Main Tasks

  • Daily preparation of dirty linen bags for laundry company collection
  • Daily organisation of clean linen delivered
  • Quality control of received linen from laundry company
  • Daily delivery of conference items and linen to College buildings
  • Stock control of conference items and request purchase to Housekeeping Supervisors

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the College's organisation and the overall objectives of Lady Margaret Hall.

Person Specification

  • Physically fit including the ability to carry out lifting
  • Ability to work well as a team member
  • Good knowledge of English language

Terms and Conditions

The hourly rate is £11.35 per hour plus rolled up holiday pay of £1.37 per hour. 

Three fixed-term contracts are available (2 x 37.5 hour per week and 1 x 25 hour per week) from the middle of June to the end of September. The normal working period will be from early morning to early afternoon.

Other benefits include a complimentary meal for each day work, when the kitchens are open.
