Professor Christine Gerrard has been elected to be Principal of Lady Margaret Hall for the interim period of 1st October 2021 until September 2022, after the current Principal Alan Rusbridger departs.
Christine is the current Vice Principal of LMH and a Professor of English Literature. She arrived at LMH in 1988 as a Domus Fellow. In 1990 she was appointed to the role of Fellow and Tutor in English in conjunction with the English Faculty. In 2014 she was awarded the title of Professor and was appointed as Vice-Principal in 2020.
LMH's Director of Visiting Students and Tutor for Graduates, Dr Fiona Spensley, has also been elected as Vice-Principal for this interim period and will be Acting Vice Principal ahead of this to organise the next Principalian Election.
Professor Gerrard said: "My immediate priority is helping LMH students and staff to return to normality after a challenging and difficult year of Covid-19. I'm looking forward to getting everyone back on site as soon as permitted, and enjoying all the brilliant teaching and the special social and physical facilities that LMH has to offer."

Principal Alan Rusbridger said: "Professor Gerrard has spent most of her academic life at LMH and the College will be in very safe hands. She embodies the values of the College and will continue to further establish LMH’s reputation for academic excellence, diversity and inclusion. She and I will be working closely to ensure a seamless transition when I leave."
