Dr Clive Holmes, former History Tutor at LMH, will present his research to the LMH community. There will be opportunity for audience Q&A.

Clive was History Tutor at LMH from 1988 to 2011, focussing on the early-modern Britain and colonial American courses; prior to that he taught at Cornell University from 1969, where he developed his interest in the history of witchcraft.

Clive's scholarly bibliography is wide ranging - books and articles on the English Civil War; the Gentry in England and Wales; Fen Drainage; Local History. Most of his work on witchcraft has been published in article form, but he has written an essay in on-line under the aegis of the Historical Association (the first of a new series of pamphlets sponsored by the Association) on his topic ‘Why did the Prosecution of Witches cease in England?’.  It is available on the Kindle bookstore.
