Death of a sporting legend

We were saddened to learn of the death of Sir Roger Bannister, who has died at the age of 88. He was the first man to run a mile in under four minutes, on the track at Iffley Road, Oxford, and went on to become a leading neurologist, and later the Master of Pembroke College, Oxford.

We were honoured to welcome him to LMH last summer to present the first Foundation Year students with their final certificates.

Alan Rusbridger, Principal of LMH, said: “It’s very sad news. We all learned so much from him during his visit. He was kind & inspiring, speaking about triumph..but also failure. A great man and he will be sorely missed.”
