In the second half of March, LMH reunions were held in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. The Principal and Politics Tutor Gillian Peele attended these reunions. A few weeks later, Richard Sommers (Treasurer), Peter Watson (Development Director), and Christopher Shields (Philosophy Tutor) met alumni in Washington DC and New York.
These followed up earlier meetings in Hong Kong and Singapore a few years ago, and the regular reunions held over many years now in North America. It is good to have these opportunities to talk with alumni living far from the UK, learn more about their experience and ideas, and keep them up to date with developments at LMH.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors Shaun McEvoy-Dix for the party at the China Club in Hong Kong, and Andrew Grant for dinner at Vue Restaurant at The Hyatt on the Bund in Shanghai. These were interesting and delightful reunions in unforgettable venues and we are enormously grateful for the kindness of Shaun and Andrew.
The gathering in the Raffles Hotel in Beijing was also most enjoyable and informative. Thank you to everyone who attended these events. We were fortunate to have very many interesting conversations with alumni, and we learned a lot about the extraordinary pace of change in China. We were also grateful for the kind hospitality of Annie Bentley, Bennie and Amy Lau, Chris Appleton, Paul Hallett, and friends of Christine Wong, who went out of their way to welcome us and make our time in China fascinating and fruitful.
We hope now to develop LMH networks in China. We are also very pleased to announce that a scholarship to enable a student from China to do postgraduate study at LMH, with the scholarship paying for residence in College, is being established.
