Jennifer Pike, a first-year student at LMH, appeared on Woman's Hour of Radio 4 yesterday to mark her success at being one of three young musicians to be awarded the London Music Masters Awards for 2009–12.
In 2002 Jennifer won the BBC Young Musician of the Year award, when she was aged just twelve. Seven years on she is studying music at Lady Margaret hall and has just been awarded a London Music Masters career development award which gives support to exceptional young violinists.
In her interview with Woman's Hour presenter Jane Garvey, Jennifer talked about taking part in the Bridge Project, an educational initiative which identifies and nurtures young children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage in classical music.
In celebration of the award Jennifer will be playing an individual recital at the Wigmore Hall in London on 22 October.
