Mr Guy Monson, Chair (1981 PPE)

Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Sarasin & Partners LLP, Guy took on the chairmanship of the Advisory Council in June 2007 and was a member of the LMH Investment Committee from 2004 until 2007.  Guy and his wife, Lady Rose Monson, sponsor the Rose Research Fellowship in International Relations at LMH.

Mr Richard Buxton, Deputy Chair (1982 English)

Richard is Head of UK Equities at Schroder Investment Management until June 2013, when he will be joining Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI).  He has been on the LMH Investment Committee since 2006 and joined the Advisory Council in 2007.

Mr Neil Simpkins, North American Chair (1984 Physics)

Neil is a Senior Managing Director of Blackstone in the Private Equity Group and is based in New York. He joined the Advisory Council in 2008.

Ms Jo Andrews (1974 PPE)

Jo is currently Director of Ariadne - the European Human Rights Funders Network, she also work as a consultant and strategist to philanthropists, trusts and foundations in the UK and internationally. She has a particular interest in funding to support women and girls, and civil and political rights. She was formerly the Director of the Sigrid Rausing Trust, and before that she was the Senior Political Correspondent at ITN.

Mrs Jenny Rose Carey (Dodge, 1981 PGCE)

Jenny is Director of the Arboretum at Temple University in Ambler, Pennsylvania.  She joined the Advisory Council in 2008. 

Mr Blair Crawford (1982 Philosophy and Theology)

After completing an MBA at Harvard Business School, Blair joined McKinsey, London and is now a Director in the Boston office.   He hosted the LMH Boston alumni reunion in 2005.

Dame Vivien Duffield (Clore, 1963 Modern Languages)

Dame Vivien is the Chairman of the Clore Duffield Foundation, one of the leading UK charitable supporters of the arts education and leadership. The Foundation is currently funding the LMH Tutorial Fellowship in Management Studies. She chaired of the Campaign for the University of Oxford between 2007 and 2010.

Dr Amanda Foreman (1993 History DPhil)

Amanda is the author of the award-winning bestsellers, ‘Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire' (winner of the Whitbread Prize for Best Biography, 1999), its film version The Duchess, starring Keira Knightley and Ralf Fiennes premiered to critical acclaim in 2008, and A World on Fire: A Epic History of Two Nations Divided (2010). In addition to regularly writing and reviewing for newspapers and magazines, Amanda Foreman has also served on a number of juries including The Orange Prize, the Guardian First Book Prize and the National Book Awards. She is currently serving as a judge for the Dan David Prize, the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize, and the Man Booker Prize.

Mr Martin Giles (1985 PPE) 

Martin is US Technology Correspondent for the Economist, based in San Francisco, and was previously Managing Director of the Economist Group North America. Before this, he worked for the newspaper in London and Paris.

Mrs Isabel Hudson (Draper, 1977 Modern Languages)

Isabel is an independent non-executive director of QBE (Australia’s largest international insurance group). She is the Chairman of NHBC (National House Building Council) and also Director of the business development board of Scope, the UK charity, a Director of MGM Advantage, Phoenix Group Holdings and the Pensions Regulator in the UK. Isabel is a member of the Standard Life With Profits Committee. She has 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry in the UK and mainland Europe.

Ms Nerys Jefford QC (1981 Jurisprudence)

Nerys was called to the Bar in 1986 and has been a practising barrister in Keating Chambers since 1988. She specialises in construction and engineering disputes, and domestic and international arbitration and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2008.

Mrs Barbara Johnstone (Clegg, 1944 English)

Barbara is a former actress and scriptwriter for TV and radio, including one of the first ever soaps, Emergency Ward 10.

Miss Jacqueline Perry QC (1970 Jurisprudence)

Jackie is a barrister with Two Temple Gardens (2tg) Chambers specialising in personal injury cases and has acted for claimants in Thalidomide, Clapham Rail Disaster, and Paddington Rail Disaster.  She is also a member of the California Bar.

Mrs Anna McNair Scott (Colquhoun, 1964 English)

Anna served as Chair of the Advisory Council from its foundation in 1996 until 2002. A Councillor for Hampshire County Council, Anna took over the role as Chairman of the County Council in June 2011. She is a former Vice President of the British Dyslexia Association and played an active role in the LMH English Fellowship Campaign.

Viscount Robert Newry (1985 PPE)

Robert is an entrepreneur and investor in IT start-ups. He is currently Managing Director of NewField IT, a company he co-founded and sold to Xerox Corporation in 2011.

Mrs Carol Oster Warriner (1981 Jurisprudence)

Carol trained and qualified as a solicitor in London before joining the Oxford firm of Linnells, as it then was, in 1988 and, in 1991 became a partner. Following a series of mergers, the firm is now part of Blake Lapthorn, a large regional UK law firm. Carol was Head of Property Litigation in their Oxford office, and subsequently became the firm's Risk Partner as well as being on the firm's strategic and management boards. Carol retired from Blake Lapthorn in 2010, and was elected President of the LMHA at the AGM in July 2011. She holds office for three years. She is also Chair of the Governors of Rush Common School, a state primary in Abingdon.

Mr Michael O'Sullivan (1982 PPE)

Michael is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Ross Stores, a nationwide retail chain in the US.

Miss Diana Quick (1964 English)

The first female president of OUDS, Diana is perhaps best known for the major role of Lady Julia Flyte in the television production of Brideshead Revisited in 1981, for which she received an Emmy and a BAFTA. Her recent TV credits include Silk (2011) and Law and Order (2010), while recent shows include Midnight Your Time performed in Edinburgh (2011).

Mrs Hazel Sanger (Archer, 1959 PPE)

Hazel is Senior Director at BNY Mellon in Atlanta, Georgia. She chaired the Advisory Council from 2002 to 2005.

Ms Suzelle Smith (Moss, 1975 Politics)

Suzelle is a Founding Partner, with Don Howarth, of Los Angeles Law firm Howarth and Smith. Both are Visiting Fellows at LMH and, since 1996, regular hosts of LMH New York receptions. In April 2006 they hosted the first-ever LMH West Coast reunion at their Malibu home.

Mr Rupert Tate (1981 Modern Languages)

Rupert is a Partner at Sarasin and Partners LLP.  He is a member of the LMH Investment Committee and in 2007 joined the Advisory Council.

Mr Xavier Van Hove (1994 Physics)

Xavier is a fund manager and partner at THS Partners LLP, based in London. He joined the Advisory Council in 2012.

Mr James Williams (1984 PPE)

James manages an arable farm in Wiltshire and works as a consultant to a Hong Kong based company where his role is to monitor resource investments in Asia and Africa. He is involved in a charity that promotes entrepreneurship in Africa.
