DPhil in History of Art
Previously:
Standford University; LMH, Oxford
I am thrilled to be returning to LMH in 2011 to begin a DPhil in the History of Art. The unquestionable academic rigour of the College, the accessibility of extraordinary resources, the innovative approaches to higher education, and the warmth and openness of the LMH community are, in combination, an ideal setting for the pursuit of graduate education at Oxford.
In 2010, I completed an MSt course in History of Art and Visual Culture, in which I became immersed in the LMH community by living in college and participating actively in both academic and extracurricular MCR events, and which provided an excellent entrée into graduate-level study and research. It is a great honour to have been awarded the LMH Renaissance Scholarship to pursue continuing doctoral work that will explore aspects of my interest in issues of the dancing body (both in practice and in representation), the staging of space, and the reciprocity between performance and the visual arts during the late Medieval and Renaissance periods in Italy. Participating in projects of a curatorial nature as a LMH Curatorial Assistant this year enriches my present art historical studies and has allowed me to become more familiar with the College’s own unique artistic heritage.
Through my exceedingly positive experiences in past and continuing studies I strongly believe that, at LMH, there are no limits to what students can learn, create, or achieve.
